I want to make sure that you hear from me just how important your membership renewal for 2020 is.
Of course, it’s possible that you renewed online or through the mail and our records just haven’t updated fast enough, so please accept my apologies if you’ve already renewed.
But if you have not yet renewed your membership in the Missouri Firearms Coalition for the upcoming year, I hope you’ll do so AT ONCE!
As a grassroots funded gun rights organization, gun owners like you are the heart and soul of the Missouri Firearms Coalition, so when a member doesn’t renew their membership, I get concerned that maybe I have let you down in some way.
Afterall, I know that you still care about the Second Amendment here in Missouri. So if I’ve done something to bother you, please let me know.
But if your renewal just slipped your mind, I hope you’ll complete your online renewal form immediately, because the 2020 session is coming at us full speed — and it’s going to be a doozy!
All over the country, lawmakers in ‘red states’ are talking about passing ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation at the state
and federal level.
And while I wish I could say that ‘it could never happen here in Missouri,’ that’s just not the case anymore — not with how quickly our legislature is sliding to the moderate middle.
In fact, after his recent press conference where he promised some form of a gun control bill next session, multiple insiders have told us that House Speaker Elijah Haahr may be rolling out this legislation himself when session convenes!
If enacted, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation would allow virtually anyone to make a claim that you are a danger to yourself or someone else and ask a judge to order you stripped of your firearms.
The amount of room for abuse in this process should have every gun owner in Missouri alarmed. Consider the following:
>>> These gun seizure orders will be issued before you have
been convicted, or even charged, with anything!
A gun owner with absolutely no criminal background of any kind,
can have his firearms seized before he ever sets foot in a courtroom.
You would have more due process rights in traffic court than you
would in defending your constitutional right to keep and bear arms.
>>> The hearing that determines whether or not to strip you of
your firearms usually happen in secret!
Known as ex-parte proceedings, these hearings take place in your
absence. You will have no ability to question your accuser, provide
your own evidence, or testify in your own defense. In fact, the first
time you will be made aware of this is when law enforcement officers
come to your home to seize your firearms.
>>> The mere fact that you recently purchased a firearm or any
ammunition constitutes evidence that can be used against
you!
Under the list of ‘evidence’ that the court can consider in deciding
to disarm you is the ‘recent acquisition of a firearm, ammunition, or
other weapons.’ So just buying a firearm or a box of .22’s could be
enough for a judge to order you stripped of your firearms.
Can you imagine what an embittered ex-spouse could do to you if Missouri enacts this legislation? How about a neighbor who doesn’t like your MOFC bumper sticker? The risk to gun owners is ENDLESS!
The gun grabbers — like Sen. Jill Schupp and Rep. Peter Meredith — want to completely ELIMINATE due process to enable bureaucrats and liberal judges to decide who gets guns and who doesn’t, all before you’ve ever set foot in a courtroom!
Please don’t brush this threat off, assuming that only Democrats would think about supporting this legislation.
Republicans in Florida and nearby Illinois passed this law last year.
Republicans in Ohio and Pennsylvania are pushing this bill right now as we speak, while Republican leaders in Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota all backed this legislation earlier this year in their respective states!
So make no mistake, if the moderates in Jeff City thought that they could get away with it, they would pass ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation in a heartbeat.

But 2020 won’t simply be about what we are fighting AGAINST, it’s also going to be about what we are going to be fighting FOR.
In addition to leading the charge against ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures’ and ‘Universal Background Checks,’ the Missouri Firearms Coalition will also be fighting to advance the Second Amendment Preservation Act!
Known as SAPA for short, the Second Amendment Preservation Act would make sure that a future gun-grabbing President couldn’t attack our Second Amendment freedoms here in Missouri.
Specifically, the language states that no government officials at the state, county or local level shall have the authority to enforce federal laws that infringe on our right to keep and bear arms.
In other words, it would be against state law for anti-gun localities like St. Louis to enforce federal gun control!
The bill also protects constitutionally minded peace officers in Missouri who ignore illegal federal mandates, by making it a criminal offense for anyone to try to harm their career simply because they did their job.
Perhaps best of all, SAPA legislation allows anyone whose gun rights have been deprived by government agents who ignore this law — and enforce federal gun control edicts — to bring civil charges against those officials.
As part of this provision, the bill states that official or qualified immunity shall not be allowed as an affirmative defense, serving as a reminder to officials who are tempted to ignore state law and that, in doing so, they run the risk of having to personally pay civil fines for their actions.
As you can see, the 2020 legislative session — which starts in just a few weeks -– will be critical in our fight for the Second Amendment.

Our forefathers paid a terrible price to rescue our young nation from the tyranny of England, and to build the greatest country that the world has ever known.
Fundamental to that was the idea that free men must always be able to keep and bear arms, as that was the ultimate check on the tyranny that they had just escaped.
But today’s radical leftists want to destroy our right to keep and bear arms as part of their larger goal of turning this great nation into just another socialist nightmare.
And with Republican leaders in Jeff City already waving the white flag for 2020, it’s up to you and me to stop them!
