Five short years ago, when I launched the Missouri Firearms Coalition to deal with Missouri’s oppressive concealed carry laws and be a bulwark against gun control — there was such a thing as a ‘blue dog’ Democrat in the Missouri legislature.

These were somewhat fiscally conservative Democrats who were in the middle of the road when it came to social issues like our great Second Amendment. 

If you’ve been involved in the fight for gun rights for a while, you’ll remember that a decent number of these ‘blue dogs’ joined with Republicans in Jeff City to back the Constitutional Carry legislation that we passed in 2016.  

And even when we overrode the Governor’s veto on Constitutional Carry and added Stand-Your-Ground provisions to the bill, ‘blue dog’ Democrats voted in favor of the bill.

Today, everything is different in Jeff City. 

Radical leftists have declared war against the Second Amendment and are feverishly introducing bills like:

>>> H.B. 1533; which would put you in the state penitentiary for ten years for the ‘crime’ of buying an AR-15 or a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds!

>>> H.B. 1856; which would make you a felon for the crime of buying ammunition without first obtaining an ammo permit from the state! 

>>> S.B. 75; which would repeal Missouri’s hard won Constitutional Carry law, forcing Missourians to pay fees to carry a handgun for self-defense as well as add their name to a government database! 

It’s safe to say that every single Democrat in Jefferson City hates the Second Amendment, they hate gun owners like you and me who fight to protect it, and they are doing everything they can to make you into a criminal for owning the firearms that we use every day for defense against criminals and tyrants!  

And these three bills are just three of dozens of gun control bills that gun-grabbers have thrown at us over the last two years. 

I’ll be honest, I don’t see this trend reversing any time soon. In fact, I think it’s only going to heat up based on what we are seeing in Jefferson City. 

That’s why I am emailing you today. 

The mission of the Missouri Firearms Coalition has always been to stop gun control, advance pro-gun legislation, and to hold the politicians who stand in the way of those goals accountable. 

Each of these efforts are vitally important to the future of our freedoms here in Missouri — but they come at a cost. 

And when you combine our work to stop gun control bills in Jeff City with our fight to advance SAPA legislation, while also pouring pressure on Missouri’s Congressional delegation to stop H.R. 5717 in Washington while simultaneously getting ready for the 2020 election cycle, the costs add up FAST! 

And while I’m able to make budget allotments at the beginning of the year after we complete our annual renewal program, after the first few months of the year I often am forced to make cuts in our programs because we can’t afford them.

With the growing threats that we are facing, that is the last thing that I want to do. 

And that’s why I’m excited to announce the launch of our new SENTINEL MEMBERSHIP program for the Missouri Firearms Coalition!

I know that the members of the Missouri Firearms Coalition don’t stand up for the Second Amendment or support this organization just because you get gear. 

You do it because you love this great country and the Second Amendment freedoms that it was built on. 

And as I said earlier, we do it because we owe a debt of honor to our Founding Fathers who gave up everything to give us a nation that enshrined our right to defend ourselves from tyranny. 

But these freedoms are going to be attacked like we have never seen here in Missouri in the coming months and years, and we just aren’t in a place to face all these threats simultaneously right now.
