The City of St. Louis is Trying to Ban AR-15’s Tonight!

Some people never learn.

Despite our pre-emption law that clearly denies them the ability to pass local gun control proposals, the City of St. Louis will be hearing a gun-control proposal at their Board of Alderman meeting tonight!

That’s why I hope you can take a moment to contact some key officials, before tonight’s hearing on these incredible proposals.

Here’s what’s going on.

As you all know, the City of St. Louis tried their best to stop you and me from passing Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground legislation this year in Jefferson City
.

The police chief and mayor of St. Louis publicly attacked this legislation all session long. In fact, FOX2 (KTVI) in St. Louis said that they were ‘livid.’

They were livid as they watched the members of MOFC pass perhaps the largest expansion of gun rights at the state level ever — and kick Michael Bloomberg and his money to the curb at the same time!

Well, now the City of St. Louis is trying to do whatever they can to clamp down on gun rights and harass gun owners in general, as they are proposing a slew of new town gun control regulations.

The biggest of which is an out and out prohibition on AR-15 styled firearms anywhere in St. Louis, being pushed by Alderwoman Lyda Krewson.

This city legislation (BB 195) hasn’t been published online yet, but would presumably make it illegal to own one of the most popular firearms in Missouri!

This incredibly popular firearm is owned by countless law abiding citizens in Missouri for self-defense and sports shooting.

(Ward 28 Alderwoman Lyda Krewson is trying to make you a criminal if you own the popular AR-15 or hundreds of similar firearms anywhere in St. Louis city limits.)

Modern rifles like the ones Krewson and her pals are trying to ban are regularly used by law abiding citizens across the country to defend themselves from violent criminals.

Consider these few examples:

***  A 15 year old Texas boy, home watching after his 12 year old sister, used his father’s AR-15 to shoot and stop two violent invasion suspects who’d already shattered a back window and were making entry;

***  Last year, a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology used his AR-15 to send two armed home invasion suspects running without having to fire a shot. The suspects were already holding this man’s roommate at gun point, but both fled at the sight of the armed roommate.

***  Earlier this year, a security guard at a tax preparation office in Detroit used his AR-15 to scare off a team of armed robbers who were on the      brink of opening fire on the receptionist. Only through the security guard’s repeated use of his AR-15 did the determined gunmen take off.

Of course I could go on and on.

Bottom line: we have the 2nd Amendment for exactly this reason, to defend ourselves and loved ones from violent criminals, and those rights don’t expire as technology upgrades!

Aldrerwoman Krewson is also trying to punish law abiding gun owners who are victims of firearms thefts, by making THEM THE CRIMINALS if they don’t report the theft of their firearms within 48 hours.

This legislation (BB196) won’t be available online until later today or tomorrow, but would try to make you and I the bad guy because someone else broke into our homes, businesses, or vehicles, and stole our firearms!

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of feeling like I’m supposed to apologize for being a proud gun owner.

I’m also tired of seeing politicians like Alderwoman Krewson violate state law in her reckless attempts to clamp down on the Second Amendment here in Missouri.

That’s right, Krewson’s proposals would violate Missouri code section 21.750 which clearly states that:

(1.) The general assembly hereby occupies and preempts the entire field of legislation touching in any way firearms, components, ammunition and supplies to the complete exclusion of any order, ordinance or regulation by any political subdivision of this state. Any existing or future orders, ordinances or regulations in this field are hereby and shall be null and void except as provided in subsection 3 of this section.

(2.) No county, city, town, village, municipality, or other political subdivision of this state shall adopt any order, ordinance or regulation concerning in any way the sale, purchase, purchase delay, transfer, ownership, use, keeping, possession, bearing, transportation, licensing, permit, registration, taxation other than sales and compensating use taxes or other controls on firearms, components, ammunition, and supplies except as provided in subsection 3 of this section.

Clearly Krewson’s attempts are blatantly illegal — but that’s not stopping her
.

That’s why I need you to take action today and call the Board of Alderman right now, before they even read these bills in during tonight’s meeting, and tell them to “KEEP THEIR HANDS OFF OF OUR GUN RIGHTS!”

Please contact:

1.   Alderwoman Krewson, at 314-622-3287 or by leaving her a message on her Facebook page!

2.   Alderman Lewis Reed, President of the Board, at 314-622-4114 or by leaving him a message on his Facebook page.

3.   The entire Board of Aldermen, by leaving a message at their main switchboard number which is 314-622-3287.

And if you live in St. Louis, you can find out who your specific Alderman is by going here.

Your message is simple: “Obey Missouri code and leave our gun rights alone!”

If you’d like to email the Board of Alderman, you can do that by visiting the link above.

Feel free to use the suggested language that I’ve provided for you below.

And please don’t think that this doesn’t apply to you if you don’t live in St. Louis!

Politics runs on momentum, and if St. Louis can do this with no push back from gun owners, it will only spread.

Your fellow gun owners are asking for your help! Please stand with them and make your calls today!

Once you’re done, please share this email with all of your friends and encourage them to do the same.

Finally, please consider chipping in $10 to enable us to get the word out about this proposal to as many people as possible via email and social media!

For Freedom,

Dr. Curt Frazier
Chairman of the Board

P.S. With St. Louis city officials “livid” over the passage of Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law earlier this year, they are doing everything they can to harass and intimidate gun owners.

Tonight, Ward 28 Alderwoman Lyda Krewson will introduce legislation (BB195) that would make you into a criminal for owning the ever-popular AR-15 or hundreds of similar firearms!

Similarly, you and I would be made into the ‘bad guy’ for failing to report stolen firearms within 48 hours if Krewson passes BB196!

Of course all gun owners would naturally report such a theft, but why is Krewson targeting the victim of the crime?

All of this, of course, is a violation of state code section 21.750 which specifically denies cities the right to interfere with state gun laws in any way!

That’s why I hope you’ll contact the Board of Alderman right away (contact information is listed above) and tell them to keep their hands off of our gun rights! You can also email them, using the pre-written email below
.

Remember, it doesn’t matter if you live in St. Louis or not. If we don’t fight back, other cities will try the same thing. They are watching us, right now, trying to see if we’ll push back against these proposals!

And if you can, please chip in $10 to help the Missouri Firearms Coalition mobilize fellow Missourians by email and social media.

——————————————-
Dear Board of Alderman Member,

As a law-abiding Missouri gun owner, I find Alderwoman Krewson’s attempts to crack down on my ability to defend myself and my loved ones to be absolutely insulting.

BB195 would make me into some sort of criminal for possessing a firearm that both Missouri and federal law say I can own!

Further, BB196 would make me into the ‘bad guy’ because some criminal breaks into my home, car or business and steals my lawfully owned property, if I don’t notice it and report in time to please Alderwoman Krewson.

Surely you’re aware of Missouri code 21.750, which clearly states that you do not have the authority to pass this type of legislation!

Furthermore, these types of gun bans do virtually nothing to stop crime and are used time and again to defend law abiding citizens from violent criminals.

I urge you to take no action on these proposals as neither will stop criminals but would only harass law-abiding gun owners.

Signed, XXXX
