Moments ago, the gavel fell on the start of the 2017 legislative session here in Jefferson City, which means the fight for the Second Amendment starts now!
Of course you and I accomplished so much last year, with the passage of Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground legislation — which finally took effect just a few days ago.
But we have much more to do here in Missouri, and I’ll be counting on your help, just like last year.
In 2017, our focus is going to be on repealing deadly “Gun Free Zones” that blanket so much of our state.
In all, nearly two dozen areas are deemed off limits to gun owners in the state, according to Missouri code, and these areas remain even after passage of Constitutional Carry!
And since law abiding gun owners are the only people to obey these silly rules — as criminals just laugh at them as they walk on by — it means that we’re giving thugs and terrorists the upper hand.
This has to stop before tragedy strikes Missouri, as it has in so many other places.
That’s why the Missouri Firearms Coalition is working with Rep. Jered Taylor to unveil a repeal of these “Gun Free Zones” this session!

In the coming days, we’ll be asking you to contact your legislators to make sure they co-sponsor this crucial legislation.
Make no mistake, this is going to require grassroots pressure to get done.
Already moderates here in Jeff City are talking about “fixing” Constitutional Carry — wanting to roll back the incredible reforms we passed in 2016.
Others are saying that “Gun owners got what they wanted last year, they have to get in line for a while.”
That’s why your continued support and activism are crucial now that we’re back in session!
For today, please do three things to get ready for this battle:
First, make sure you’ve renewed your membership in the Missouri Firearms Coalition, so we have the resources we need to mobilize gun owners.

Third, make sure you’re up to speed on who your Senators and Representatives are. After the elections, there are dozens of new faces here, so make sure you know who you’ll be contacting.
