Chicago man with concealed-carry permit fatally shoots would-be robber

Chicago – When this 23-year-old man went out to walk his dog in the 8200 block of South Ingleside in Chicago, he brought his lawfully carried concealed pistol along with him.

So when an armed gunman shot the 23-year-old in a brazen daylight robbery attempt, the gun owner drew his own firearm and shot back, striking the suspect in the head, killing him.

The Cook County medical examiner confirmed that the suspect died, but did not reveal additional information about the suspect.

Police said in a statement that the 23-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip, adding that his condition was stable.

A second robbery suspect fled the scene after the shooting, and is still being sought by police.

Despite a growing number of self-defense shootings like this in the Chicago metro, Mayor Emmanuel continues his senseless call for gun control, making it all but impossible for many people to buy handguns in the first place.
