Missouri passed the Second Amendment Preservation Act in 2021, asserting state sovereignty and telling the federal government they can’t use our cops to enforce federal gun control laws! Biden hated it, and the DOJ sued Missouri over it.
The 8th Circuit has blocked SAPA law.
But in their decision, the court made it clear that they had no issue with Missouri not helping the feds and they had no issue with the civil penalties in SAPA law. Their issue was with the preamble.
In 2026, the legislature only needs to remove a few paragraphs from SAPA and these protections will be reinstated!
The bill (HB-3070) has been heard in committee and could be voted on at any moment.
