Whereas the Missouri Constitution clearly states in Article 1, Section 23 that “the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms, ammunition, and accessories… shall not be questioned,” and that any restriction on these rights must withstand the highest legal test, known as strict scrutiny;
Whereas House Joint Resolution 28 (HJR 28) and Senate Joint Resolution 49 (SJR 49) would repeal Article 1, Section 23, eliminating this crucial protection from our Constitution;
Whereas repealing Article 1, Section 23 would open the door for activist judges, anti-gun city councils, and liberal bureaucrats to:
👉🏽Repeal Constitutional Carry,
👉🏽Overturn Stand-Your-Ground law,
👉🏽Create gun registries and local permit-to-purchase schemes,
👉🏽Impose new taxes, fees, and background checks on law-abiding Missourians, and
Criminalize the right to self-defense city by city;
Therefore, as a law-abiding citizen and supporter of the Missouri Firearms Coalition, I demand that you publicly oppose HJR 28 and SJR 49 and vote NO on any attempt to weaken or repeal Missouri’s constitutional protections for the right to keep and bear arms.
Missourians fought hard to secure these freedoms, and we will not allow radical politicians to destroy them.
