The Missouri Firearms Coalition is pushing HB-2176 in the House, an omnibus bill that would improve our gun rights in key areas, including a ban on ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures.’
And because we know St. Louis Co., Jackson Co., Boone Co., and others would violate this law, we have civil penalties in the bill of $50,000 per violation.
But anti-gun lobbyists with the Sheriff’s Association and the Chiefs of Police are pushing an amendment on this bill that would gut these civil penalties, leaving this bill impotent.
The law enforcement lobbyists have opposed — and actively tried to stop — every expansion of gun rights in Missouri history going back for a decade, including:
1. Constitutional Carry
2. Stand-Your-Ground Law
3. Enhanced Castle Doctrine
4. The Second Amendment Preservation Act
Contact the House General Laws Committee immediately and tell them that any vote for amendments that remove the penalty provisions from HB-2176 will be seen as an anti-gun vote, and you’ll remember that during the August primaries.
